Nitish Kumar resigns as the Chief minister of Bihar.
Days of conjecture that the leader was considering a second political move, maybe back into an alliance with the BJP, preceded the resignation.
At 11 a.m. today, the leader of the Janata Dal (United) arrived at the governor’s office and submitted his resignation. He had earlier met at his official house with MLAs from his party.
With his resignation, Mr. Kumar has left the 28-party INDIA Opposition alliance and is prepared to join forces with the BJP to build a coalition. According to sources who spoke to NDTV, Nitish Kumar intends to remove ministers from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lalu Yadav’s party and an alliance partner.
